Young Leaders, Business Management, Fintech, Ethics & NYSSA Elections

Your local CFA Society structures will keep NYSSA relevant for years to come.  We are launching a Young Leaders interest group, have recently launched Business Management and Fintech Thought Leadership Groups and recently became the first Society in the United States to officially work with CFA Institute to spearhead a “train the trainers program” for ethics training at local universities.  All this complements and springs from substantial governance innovations that began two years ago at NYSSA. Your vote in NYSSA’s upcoming election is more meaningful than ever.

NYSSA Leaders Become the First Certified Ethics Trainers in the US

NYSSA joined CFA Institute’s Michael McMillan, PhD, CPA, CFA and held 5 ethics workshops at Manhattan College, two Fordham University groups, St. John’s University, and Macaulay Honors College, with more planned for the fall. Two of NYSSA’s leaders Harumi Urata-Thompson, CFA, COO and Mario E. Carias, CFA, MD Education and Content, became the first ‘certified’ ethics trainers in the United States. The interactive presentations made to University students were well received as it allowed students to put themselves in real-life work situations where they have to make decisions. In many occasions the choices are not black or white and not obvious. In these situations the option was to pick the best of imperfect choices.

NYSSA Thanks Mickie Chow, CFA, and JP Morgan for their Vision and Innovation

Mickie Chow approached NYSSA leadership to volunteer her talents as she was working towards re-entering the workforce.  NYSSA collaborated with her to design a dynamic program that enabled her to attend events of interest at NYSSA while submitting recaps and write ups of those events.  These recaps were utilized for distribution to our members and for use in social media.
